Miss Teen Babbler -- But I CAN Speak!

She's the laughingstock of the Internet and beyond, after her babbling, dippy answer to a question at the "Miss Teen USA" pageant this past weekend, but Lauren Caitlin Upton got her chance at redemption today, courtesy of the "Today" show.

The 18-year-old South Carolina bumbling beauty got the chance at a redo, with a slightly less cubist answer, telling Matt Lauer and Ann Curry that she intended to study "special effects" in school (like how to make Blondish sound like English on live TV?) and even explained what a lunar eclipse was. Brilliant!

If you're one of the four people on the net who haven't seen Caitlin's shining moment, check it, uhmmmm, out.

121. I'm sorry but I'm hoping that all the people ripping apart some 18 year old girl they never met are not over the age of 15 and are just caddy/immature teenagers, otherwise I feel extremely sorry for you guys. I am 22 years old and I'm about to start my masters program for psychology but I still couldnt come up with an answer for that question when I first heard it and I'm offended so many people would call me "braindead" or "stupid" for it!
Bottom line is you are not her, you do not know her, she messed up, she's barely out of highschool and there are adults out there making fun of her on the internet?! I'm ashamed to live in America because of the type of people leaving rude and horrific comments on this page, not because some little girl in a beauty pageant messed up a question. Seriously, you all need help.

122. Am I the only person who thinks a 3.5 GPA is pretty low? Usually the AP classes bump a smart kids GPA above 4.0..... Not that I think this girl has any business being in an AP class! Yikes.

WOW! When did 18 become the new 5 years old? WTF? So...If you didn't hear a question or understand it you'd still try to answer? That alone makes you "stupid" and "braindead!"

BTW - Do everyone on this blog a favor and don't become a psychologist because you can't think rationally yourself!

125. Everyone does make mistakes, true. But the fact of the matter is, she knew she was on "national" television. She knew that everyone was going to be watching her and every move she makes and everything she says. To me, it seems as if, she was not prepared for it. The other girls had hard, or even harder questions and they didn't fumble like she did. I'm sorry, but she is a moron. She made the US a laughing stock. Once again, someone who has no brain, opens their mouth and BOOM! The US are a bunch of idiots. That makes me sad, not all american's are that dumb. But again, the pagent is not a Scholarship program or whatever you want to call it, its a BEAUTY contest, so, in all reality, what do you expect from someone who has never used her brain in her entire life? Colorado had a tough question about paris hilton and I think her answer was great! She's also a brunette! You go girl!

126. The question Carolina had wasn't that hard. It was simply asking what can't students find the US on a map and she says "because us american's don't have maps?" What? I came up with several answers for that. It wasn't that hard to answer. The fact is, she's just not very smart and should keep her mouth shut until she learns to not open it unless she has something relevant to say or something semi-intelligent. I do feel sorry for her, but it was her mistake. She can rise above it however. So all hope isn't lost for her...I don't think.

127. Anyone else notice she referred to Europe and Asia as countries? What a dumb b*itch!

The only people on this blog that needs help is you and your dumb blond friend!

128. wow, what a comeback :-) Very impessed, I shouldnt be a psychologist, glad some random person dislikes me that much they can make such an assumption like that about me. The girl should have asked for the question to be repeated, but like I said, she made a mistake. You peple really are ignorant. I am very proud of being a brunette and I am always looking for a good dumb blonde moment to rag on, but after reading these comments and how cruel and inconsiderate people can be, I actually started feeling bad for her. Goodbye TMZ.

I don't dislike you! I think you're stupid! You said:

"I am 22 years old and I'm about to start my masters program for psychology but I still couldnt come up with an answer for that question when I first heard it and I'm offended so many people would call me "braindead" or "stupid" for it!"

If you couldn't come up with a simple answer you're just as stupid as Ms Teen SC. What Masters program allowed you in their school? I wanna know because I'm going to write them an email with your quote above. Also, I don't want to send my kids there if they accept stupid people!

130. She's hot as hell. Who cares if she's as dumb as a lot of US Americans.

131. What a sad testimonial to the American educational system. Perhaps Mr. Trump should donate some of his billions he so often brags about having to educating young American girls instead of exploiting them in these mindless contests. This one could be a great candidate for the next Mrs. Trump....just his type of gal !!

I'd have to agree with this statement. He should "educate" these young american girls instead of exploiting them. Some of them, well most of them, except for our lovely Miss South Carolina, seemed to have brains as well as beauty. I think instead of having "beauty" contests, they should have real "scholarship" programs that really do test the brains. Use the money to fund schools and help better educate our people. That would make us look better and people around the world would have more respect for us as intelligent human beings instead of brainless bimbo's who can't answer a simple question without messing it up.
