Miss Teen Babbler -- But I CAN Speak!

She's the laughingstock of the Internet and beyond, after her babbling, dippy answer to a question at the "Miss Teen USA" pageant this past weekend, but Lauren Caitlin Upton got her chance at redemption today, courtesy of the "Today" show.

The 18-year-old South Carolina bumbling beauty got the chance at a redo, with a slightly less cubist answer, telling Matt Lauer and Ann Curry that she intended to study "special effects" in school (like how to make Blondish sound like English on live TV?) and even explained what a lunar eclipse was. Brilliant!

If you're one of the four people on the net who haven't seen Caitlin's shining moment, check it, uhmmmm, out.

91. I kinda feel bad for her ... I mean how was she supposed to answer the question? "Americans dont' give a crap about education and while in school care more about how their school's football team is doing, not to mention that some parts of the country dont' have funding to get maps that were updated within the last 50 years"

92. "Ms. Teen USA and the Today Show WERE NOT her only televison appearances! So...I guess, I'm not sure why you think I'm judging this girls intelligence on a 30 second clip. However, I guess a simpleton like yourself wouldn't recognize another idiot; so, I'll explain it to you like you're a 4 yr old." - Johnny SoCal

Johnny SoCal, did you even bother to watch the clip? She very clearly says that this pageant was her first time on TV. So, you're either a liar, or an idiot incapable of understanding a simple sentence. My personal guess would be that it's a little of both.

94. Johnnysocal....the more you write, the more deluded you appear. It's really simple.....in the absence of standardized tests established to evaluate IQ, her intelligence can't be appropriately measured. You yourself appear "dumb" in suggesting otherwise.

You think standardized tests properly evaluates IQ/intelligence? Ha Ha Ha.....How dumb are you? You must be a relative

97. IQ bandit!
The coaches told her,if you put South Africa,Iraq, education, our nation and our children in the same sentence, then you are the winner.
Oh and don't worry answer the question, the people only hear those words. The only problem is, she put too many filler words into the sentence.

98. "I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some people out there in our nation don't have maps and uh, I believe that our, I, education like such as uh, South Africa, and uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should, uhhh, our education over here in the US should help the US, uh, should help South Africa, it should help the Iraq and the Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future, for our children."

99. "Like I personally believe that like kids in Africa have way more brains than I do even though they don't like eat & stuff and that like the country of the Irak is like way super cool and Paris is sooo my idol & like that oh my gosh Mario u are like super hot!!"

100. Damn:

You'd think they asked her to devise a plan to get our South African troops out of Iraq!

101. I watched It live on Friday and I felt really sorry for her. You could tell she didn't even know what she was saying. Have you ever just drawn a blank before its the worse feeling in the world. I think she had guts to go on the Today show but I also thought she was to rehearsed today.

102. Aaaaaaaaaaah - to #11 - gotta love it!!! It would appear that you are even LESS intelligent then the young lady!!!! I guess when you can't add a comment which takes just a tiny bit of smarts, - hey, bring the President into it and blame him!! There ya go MORON!!!

103. It amazes me that some of you are defending her. Any contestant in a pageant of this caliber certainly should know how to speak in public and not be flustered by the "big audience." One doesn't become a Miss Teen USA contestant without prior pageant experience and a familiarity with public speaking. It's glaringly obvious to me that she should be a spokesperson for education reform. I honestly believe that my 7 year old child could have pieced together a more articulate and cohesive response.

104. To all the people that are sticking up for her.... you gotta be as dumb as a rock too. Do you even know what the pageant is about? I think that if you can't be on national TV then the "job" is not for you. The girl is probably in fact only about as smart as the president we have today so yeah... maybe they should switch jobs and no one would know the difference.
